Hello and welcome to Rank First. We are small SEO company that started at The Brunswick Bowling Club back in 2008. From there, we have gone through many evolutions to become today, a small SEO company that is committed to working on behalf of its clients.
If you speak to us about Google or anything to do with SEO, all you will get is the truth from a person that has worked on hundreds of client websites across almost every type of industry. We do not have salespeople and we don’t offer search engine optimisation services just to make a quick buck.
Our Business Philosophy – Why do we do what we do? Well, I can tell you one thing, it is not because we were born to do it like I read on some other SEO website. (it was a video actually). After all, when you break it down, our main job is to sit in an office and push buttons on a keyboard. Not exactly what I would call an exciting life.
As the owner, I run Rank First with the main objective being to have a stress-free life. There you go. I said it. But what does that actually mean? Well, the most stressful experiences I have had in business are when clients of my business are disappointed with our service. Especially if I do not know how to fix it.
A stress-free business to me encompasses a few different things. First and foremost, our clients need to be happy. Otherwise, there is no chance of not having worries all day. Or waking up thinking about someone else’s website or business. Secondly there is my own wellbeing and the wellbeing of the people who work with me.
Along with that, we all, client, myself, and my staff, all need to have more money in our bank accounts as a result of the SEO work we do.
The SEO Industry – I do not hesitate to say it. SEO is a dodgy industry. Plain and simple. There is no regulation. Clients cannot tell the difference between empty promises and someone who actually cares. Reviews are fake. Testimonials are fake. Case studies are rigged to look good. After more than a decade in the industry, I cannot even refer you to another SEO company with any real confidence.
I do not envy anyone trying to choose a company to do search engine optimization for them.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT ?
We have been doing pretty much nothing but SEO now for over a decade. In that time I have learned that all our clients want is to know what we are doing, and to make more money from the work we do. Simple.
So we communicate clearly. We tell our clients what we are doing. We show them. We explain the logic.
With the no-contract SEO service, we have always offered, it means that if clients are not happy, they can leave. Any time. This keeps us proactive and always trying to improve.
Our goal is to have long term clients. Short term clients are okay too, but it is the longer term clients that make the most from what we do.
The first step in our SEO process is the sales. This can make a huge difference to the success of any project. You see when someone is sold to by an inexperienced employee, just looking to make a commission, the client is already losing. They are being told what they need to hear to sign a contract. The sales process should be about learning. The client should learn how we work and see if that fits with their personality and business goals. We should be learning what is most important for a client, and start making a strategy to get the project off to a positive start.
With new clients, we feel the need to prove quickly that we can get them better rankings. That is what they want to see. Proof of ability. To do this we edit their website, particularly all the areas that make the biggest initial difference. Our clients invariably see their rankings going up before the end of the first month. We make it clearer to Google what they want to be found for. Google reindexes their website and finds what we have done. The rankings go up.
Once we have proof of rankings, the next thing the client wants to see is more traffic. Now, this can only come after the site is ranking in a better position for a little while. In this period, we continue improving the site from an SEO point of view, and if appropriate, go in one of two directions. That is either editing the site to get a better conversion rate or adding more content, to match a wider range of keywords that will in turn bring them more visitors. Or both, depending on the clients budget.
As the traffic increases, we measure enquiries or sales and keep communicating with the client about what we have done, what the results are and what the next steps could be. All the while trying to help them Rank First on Google for the best keywords possible for their website or business.
